Cultural actions that contribute to the development of citizenship and accessibility to art and culture

Olhares

Olhares Cultural Institute is a private association of cultural character, non-profit, which has the mission to promote education through cultural actions, in order to contribute to the development of citizenship and to to democratize the access to art. Its area of activity covers the promotion of diverse knowledge exchanges, as well as providing consultancy and management of events and cultural facilities. Olhares was founded in 2010, in Belo Horizonte and is currently headquartered in São Paulo. Among the projects conceived and carried out by the association are MITsp – São Paulo International Theatre Festival, ECUM – Performing Arts World Meeting, the ECUM – International Research Centre on Performing Arts Education and CIT-ECUM – ECUM International Theatre Centre. The profile of its team reflects the institute’s interest in cross-cutting knowledge and incorporates professionals from various fields, such as educators, entrepreneurs, cultural producers, social workers, artists and projects managers.

Awards

The excellence of the work developed by Olhares Cultural Institute has been recognized on several occasions for different projects. In the year of MITsp’s debut, in 2014, the festival won the Special Award of the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA). In 2016, the festival also received the Bravo! Bradesco Culture Award, in the Cultural Event category. CIT-ECUM was nominated in 2013 for the Shell Award in the Innovation category, for the plural realization of its artistic-educational project.
