The Olhares

Olhares Cultural Institute is a private non-profit cultural association whose mission is to promote education through cultural activities, in order to contribute to the development of society and the democratization of art. Its field of work covers the promotion of the most diverse knowledge exchanges, and also the consultancy and management of events and cultural venues. Olhares was founded in 2010 in Belo Horizonte and it is currently based in São Paulo. Among the projects designed and carried out by the association are the MITsp – International Theater Festival of São Paulo , the ECUM – Performing Arts World Meeting, the ECUM – International Center of Research on Performing Arts Education and the The International Theater Center ECUM – CIT -ECUM. Its team’s profile reflects the interest of the institute for a cross-sectional knowledge and embraces professionals from different areas, such as pedagogues, entrepreneurs, cultural producers, social workers, artists and managers. The association has as core values the ​​ethics and the management transparency of its projects and seeks to intensify the accessibility to art and culture through its actions.

Olhares Cultural Institute’s excellency has been acknowledged in several occasions, for different projects.  The first took place in the premiere year of MITsp, in 2014, when the festival won the Special Prize of the Paulista Association of Art Critics (APCA). In 2016, MITsp received the Bravo! Bradesco Prize for Culture for best Culture Event. In 2013, the CIT-ECUM was a nominee of the Shell Awards in the Innovation category, for the accomplishments of it’s artistic and pedagogical project .
